Arbitration Services

In addition to providing mediation services, Jim is selected by counsel to arbitrate civil disputes when the parties elect to proceed to binding arbitration – as an alternative to court or jury trial – or are compelled to arbitrate by contract.

In such cases, arbitration can permit a streamlined – and less costly – road to resolution. Arbitration is entirely different from mediation and involves a formal hearing where testimony and documentary evidence is considered and a binding written decision is rendered by the arbitrator.

Although much less frequently employed, it can serve as an alternative to more formal courtroom proceedings.  Jim has served as an arbitrator many dozens of times in disputes ranging from personal injury cases to civil servant disciplinary cases
